FAVORITE QUOTE: Most of my favorite quotes are from LDS church leaders. They have so much meaning and depth. This quote is from our prophet Thomas S. Monson.
"Sometimes we let our thoughts of tomorrow take up too much of today. Daydreaming of the past and longing for the future may provide comfort but will not take the place of living in the present. This is the day of our opportunity, and we must grasp it."
This quote was from his talk In Search of Treasure. (Check it out, it's a good one.) It's crazy how the Lord works. As I was searching to pick just one quote I came across this one and it was just shouting to me. You see, the past few days I've been feeling a bit out of whack. I've been feeling...I guess the word that most describes my mood is insignificant. I have been thinking to myself that all I do is sit around the house and watch my son. For those who don't know me, I like to work. I have been working since I was fourteen. My parents didn't have money so for me to stay on my high school sports teams I did my coaches' yard work. I then got a job at a sandwich shoppe and have been working ever since. I had been so consumed in not being able to work and this is what I've done my whole adult life that I realized I was only being selfish. The fact that I thought too much about my past and looked too deeply into what the future holds, I forgot how to just live. I think my biggest downfall is that I think way too much. I let my thoughts consume me and affect my mood that not only does it take its toll on me, it takes its toll on those around me. I'm glad I came across this quote once again. It really has put everything into perspective. Lately I've been having moments of weakness but it's nice to be able to fall on the counsel of our prophet. Things can be said over and over again but until you are willing to see it for what it's worth, it is meaningless. I hope you take the time to live in the present and continue to live life to its fullest. Happy Hump Day!!
