People, People!!

I have A LOT of pet peeves.
I get it, people are not perfect. I am far from it.
But there's nothing that drives me more crazy than when people use the incorrect usage of certain words. For example: YOUR, YOU'RE, THEY'RE, THEIR, THERE, TOO, TO, THEN, THAN, LOSE, LOOSE.
I'm sure you get the picture but I'm pretty sure we have learned this in elementary.
Wait, I'm POSITIVE we've learned it in elementary.
If English is your ONLY language than it's best you get a handle on these immediately! lol I am aware this is a little mean and I'm being super sarcastic but I do hope you know this is all coming from a good place! :) I just get really annoyed by it!
When I read something or someone's posts on social media, if there are major grammar mistakes or the misuse of words, I can't take them seriously. I more than likely won't finish reading it. No matter how hard I try unless I really really like you!
When someone says, "I'm to grown for this junk!" or decides to rant and rave on Facebook with misspelled words, I just have to stop dead in my tracks and click on.
Yes, I go crazy with the comma splices and sometimes I use run on sentences but I recognize it and if I don't my super smart husband will tell me. (thanks hon!)
And if you catch me doing it, by all means, call me out. I will not get offended!
I wonder how English teachers do it.
I wonder if they just look away because it drives me absolutely insane in the membrane.
I'm not the smartest person in the world but this is just crazy!
As I type this, I am reminded of a quote from our recent  General Conference  and I realize I need to relax.
"Imperfect people are all God has ever had to work with. That must be terribly frustrating to Him but He deals with it. So should we." -Jeffrey R. Holland

And there you have it.
A piece of humble pie thrown right in my face!
Do you have pet peeves or imperfections that you have a hard time getting over?
I guess this is a good challenge for all of us to find more patience with people's shortcomings.
Have a happy Wednesday.
Make it a good one!

  2. Ewe are sew rite!!

I couldn't resist! It drives me nuts too. I can handle misspelled words better than I when they use the wrong word.

  4. I was reading on Brooke's blog Silver Lining when I saw her link to your blog. I'm relatively new to the blogging world as well, so I thought that I'd come over and say hello!

I completely agree with you on the pet peeve thing. I'm an English major, and some things just drive me up the wall. One that irks me the most is when people botch up their adverbs. I often yell out "-LY!!!!" at the end of a word like "quick." I also yell out "WELL!" when people say "I'm doing good." I'm sure that you're quite a benevolent person, but let's have some grammar, no? :)

I love that quote by Elder Holland. It's so true, and so beautiful.

    I'm following you now.

    Cheers!
