Half Marathon Jitters

Yes, I know my half marathon isn't until the end of July but I was looking at the map, the location and the elevation.
Quite frankly, it freaked me out.
The elevation starts off at 6400 ft.
I'm in sunny California where the elevation sits at 2900 ft above sea level.
Hmm, that's a predicament.
But I'm not going to be discouraged.
This week I am starting my intense training for the half.
I'm determined more than ever to average an 8 minute mile.
As of right now, I'm between a 9 minute mile to 8:36.
I know I don't have to but that's what I want to push for.
I'm excited to be going to Utah for my first half marathon.
Living in California makes me miss my home town.
I can't wait to see my dear friend Celia.
Growing up we had mutual friends and played in a basketball tournament in which we took first place. (it was awesome!!)
It's great to have friends that you have known since junior high. I love being able to see how much we've all grown and blossomed through the years.

She's the one that motivated me to do this with her.
She did it last year and was actually the person that ignited my fire to start running in marathons.

She is such an inspiration to me in so many ways.
She served a Spanish speaking, LDS mission in Texas.
When she came home from her mission, she graduated from Utah State University, married her high school sweetheart (they were BFFs in junior high) after he came home from his LDS mission he served in New Zealand (her place of birth and homeland until she was 11) and now they have two beautiful kids.
See how when you put God first in your relationships, He gives back tenfold?
I love it.
They have the best love story.
In the midst of it all she managed to work full time and obtain her Masters at the University of Utah.

Now to top it all off, she's a crossfit mommy with a nice six pack!

That just goes to show that you can do whatever you like!
Ever since we were young, she was always the one to welcome any and all.
She is beautiful inside and out.
She is one of the sweetest people I know and am so grateful that she is still in my life.
She is always so motivating and uplifting.
Thanks Celia for being so amazing! I can't wait to run with you!

If you believe it, you can achieve it!
I have so many inspiring women in my life and I love it.
It helps motivate me to become better.
It shows me that no matter what, I must always push myself.
After all isn't that why we're here on this earth?
To become better?
To use our talents to the best of our abilities and to expand our minds?
Yes, 86 days left until my half marathon and I probably shouldn't work myself up into a frenzy but this just means I'm preparing.
I'm nervous but I know I can do it.
To be quite honest, I can't wait!
Who are some people that inspire you?
What is a major goal you have in life?
Have a very marvelous Wednesday everyone!!

  2. This post makes me smile today! My BFF and I have been inseperable since we were 7, and she lives 1,000 miles away now but we text every day! Love to hear of other friendships like that! You will do great with your half marathon! If you are already running sub 9 minute miles after your training you will rock it!
