Quickie!

This post is short one but a good one!
Yesterday I took my Hola to do laundry with me at a laundromat since our washer is broken.
We laughed and played.
We joked and grabbed a bite to eat.
We talked about our situation and I broke the news to him.
He was bummed but didn't shed a tear.
This boy is so strong.
He looked at me and said that he wished things were different.
He shared his feelings about his dad and his dad's girlfriend.
I assured him that whatever they do is not our issue.
That eventually all things will fall into its rightful place.
As we were finishing up the rest of our laundry he looked at me and said, "Mom, I have an idea."
I asked him what it was and with the most mature, sweet and kind face he said, "Mom, let's not worry about the length of time we have, let's just enjoy it while we can."
Bless his sweet heart.
This child is wise beyond his years and I am so blessed to be his mother.
He is teaching me more than I could ever teach him.
I think that's what parenting is or at least that's what it feels like to me.
We are blessed with these little ones to rear them in the right direction but I feel like I'm the one learning from them.
They teach me things about myself I never knew.
They bring out all sorts of characteristics and strengths that I had no idea existed.
Near or far, my Hola knows that we love him.
He is definitely a person who has great faith.
He truly has a special spirit.
He knows life is not fair but like I tell him time and time again, we can't control some things that come our way but we can control our attitude.
He is definitely living proof of a great attitude and learning to see the good in everything.
I hope you all have a safe holiday.
From my family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful 4th of July.
I hope you all try to see the good in everything.

  1. I was wondering what the situation was, but then I read your last post. I'm so sorry, Talisha. ughh....so frustrating that he has to leave early...but so glad you are able to spend some time with him! He really is a sweetheart, that Hola. Kids really are the greatest teachers.
